Amanda DeFazio

Bloom

Artist Statement

This body of work is inspired by my love for investigating nature-based design and repetitious textile patterns. Being around my mom, who is a quilter, has led me to a passion for textiles and patterns that are becoming more represented in my artwork. The use of textiles in combination with different print methods allows me to create pieces that push beyond the scale of printmaking in a variety of ways, both in two and three dimensions. There is an experimentation to printmaking that has drawn me to this media as only just the beginning of artmaking. Because of printmaking, I have the luxury to make multiples and print motifs again and again on fabric and paper to then take and create from. Taking elements from nature and getting to experiment through different processes is what really excites me.
